He began his career with the Techint Group in 1990 as a young graduate professional in Ternium’s Planning area (flat steel products), where he spent the early years of his career. In 2006, he moved to the seamless pipe business, eventually becoming Managing Director of Tenaris Andean Region. In June 2010, he was appointed President of Tenaris Southern Cone, leading for 15 years a team of more than 8,300 employees across five manufacturing plants, four service centers, and a world-class R&D center located at the Tenaris Industrial Center in Campana.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of CIPPEC, Argentina’s leading public policy think tank. He also serves as a Director of IDEA (Instituto para el Desarrollo Empresarial de la Argentina). In addition, he is a Board member of AmCham Argentina (the Argentine-American Chamber of Commerce) and of Fundación 1821, which he helped establish as a founding partner. The foundation brings together University of Buenos Aires alumni committed to enhancing the quality of the university and giving back to the institution. He also serves on the Board of Enseñá por Argentina, an organization dedicated to developing change agents by training individuals who aspire to teach in challenging educational contexts.

He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University. He is married, has three children, and is passionate about outdoor sports.

He joined the Techint Group in 1980 as Controller for the American Sector and later served as Controller for the European Sector, based in Milan, Italy. In 1984, he returned to Argentina, where he worked as Assistant to the President of the Techint Organization and Human Resources Director for the entire group.

He served as Director of the Techint Bulletin from 2001 to 2025. He is an Honorary Advisor to CEADS (Business Council for Sustainable Development), and was President of Fundación Germinare from 2009 to 2017.

Between 1977 and 1979, he served as Commercial and Planning Manager at C.O.C.Y.F. S.A., participating in the management of more than 240,000 hectares of farmland. He also worked in Africa and Latin America for Latinoconsult as an economic analyst.

Marcelo Sadonio holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Córdoba and a Master of Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He also completed an MBA at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (UTDT).

He has 32 years of professional experience within Techint Group companies, where he has led the commercial and operational development of major engineering and construction projects, as well as held corporate roles in strategic planning and management control.

He currently serves as Institutional Planning Senior Director at Techint Group.

He joined the Techint Group in 1984 as a Young Professional in the Economic and Financial Planning area of Tenaris and later Ternium.

He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and other international organizations. In addition, he has held teaching positions at the National University of La Plata, Universidad del Salvador, and the Catholic University of La Plata.

He is the Executive Director of the Bunge y Born Foundation and a Professor at Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT) and Central European University (CEU). He was the founding Rector of UTDT and has taught at the University of Chicago, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Kyoto University, the London School of Economics (LSE), Universidad de San Andrés, and the University of Buenos Aires.

He has published numerous academic articles and is co-author of the books Straining at the Anchor: The Argentine Currency Board and the Search for Macroeconomic Stability, A New Economic History of Argentina (Una Nueva Historia Económica Argentina), and Perón’s Economy: An Economic History (La Economía de Perón, Una Historia Económica).

Together with Professor Giorgio Alberti, he co-founded the Buenos Aires campus of the University of Bologna in 1998, where he served as Deputy Executive Director until 2010 and Director of the Research Center until 2016. Between 2011 and 2016, he was a member of the campus’s Scientific and Management Council, appointed by the Academic Senate of UNIBO.

In Argentina, he taught at Universidad del Salvador, the National University of the Northeast (UNNE), and the National University of Lomas de Zamora. His professional career was primarily developed in Argentina in collaboration with Engineer Roberto Rocca, initially (1996–2003) as Scientific Director of the SME Observatory Project (Observatorio PyME), a joint initiative of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Techint, and public institutions. Subsequently, he served as Scientific Director of the SME Observatory Foundation (Fundación Observatorio PyME), established in 2004 by UIA, Techint, and the University of Bologna, representing the University of Bologna until 2024.

Throughout his career, he has worked as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), and Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also contributed to several economic development projects for the European Commission and served as a consultant to Argentina’s National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI), Venezuela’s INAPyME, and Mexico’s Secretariat for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

She holds a Ph.D. with a specialization in Development from Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering, as well as postgraduate degrees from the Haute École des Sciences Sociales in Paris and the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague.

She is a founding partner of Eco-Axis S.A., a firm specializing in economic growth and business strategy, with broad experience in international trade and investment, private-sector consulting, and advisory services for governments and international organizations. She is also a partner in family-owned wine ventures in Mendoza.

She serves as Chair of the U.S. Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of CARI (Argentine Council for International Relations), a member of the Academic Committee of the Techint Bulletin, and a Fellow of the Global Solutions Initiative.

She served as Secretary of State for Special G20 Affairs at Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Argentina’s G20 Sherpa in 2017, contributing to the definition of priorities and organization of Argentina’s G20 Presidency in 2018.

She has worked as an external consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and leading international NGOs such as The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and WWF, focusing on sustainability, climate change mitigation, biodiversity protection, and natural capital preservation.

A member of the T20 since 2018, she participated in the T20 Brazil 2024 process and served as co-chair of the T20 Saudi Arabia 2020 and T20 Japan 2019 working group on sustainable infrastructure investment and financing.

Earlier in her career, she was President of Argentina’s National Investment Development Agency, a Member of the National Congress, a member of the Mercosur Joint Parliamentary Commission, and Undersecretary of Industry and Foreign Trade, where she served as chief negotiator of the Argentina–Brazil integration agreements that became a cornerstone of Mercosur.

She also held directorships at international firms including A.D. Little, Nobleza Piccardo, and KPMG, and was lead consultant to Toyota during its initial investment project in Argentina and the development of its production specialization model integrated with Brazil and global markets.

She has taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Toronto, as well as in Buenos Aires at ITBA (Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires), the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, and the University of Bologna.

She has been honored by Brazil with the Order of Rio Branco, by Chile with the Order of San Martín, and by France with the Legion of Honour. She is the author of numerous publications, including books, newspaper and journal articles, academic and specialized publications, and consulting studies.

He is a Full Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT). From 2011 to June 2024, he served as a member of the Governing Council of Torcuato Di Tella University.

In 2011, he was recognized as an Outstanding Figure in Science by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. He also received the Konex Platinum Award in Economic Development for the decade 1997–2006.

From 2002 to 2010, he served as Director of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean) in Argentina, part of the United Nations system. He has also been a Visiting Professor at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford.

He is the author of 29 books and more than 100 publications on economics and development.

He earned his doctorate from the University of Bologna and specialized in Economics and Industrial Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE). He is an Honorary Professor at the South China University of Technology and holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Buenos Aires.

Throughout his academic career, he has published numerous scientific articles and several books in Italian, English, and Spanish.

He is currently a member of the National Academy of Economic Sciences of Argentina and Professor Emeritus at the University of San Andrés. He previously served as a Full Research Professor at the University of San Andrés and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), and taught Macroeconomics at the University of Buenos Aires.

He was Director of the Economics Program at the University of Buenos Aires and a researcher at CEDES (Center for the Study of State and Society).

Throughout his career, he has led numerous international research projects in his field and has published extensively in Argentina and abroad. He has conducted work for ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and the Global Development Network.

He received the Konex Award with distinction in Economic Development.

Throughout his professional career, he has held key positions in financial and academic institutions, including Executive Director of an investment bank, Managing Director at Darby Overseas Investments, and Independent Director of Templeton Funds. He has also taught at prestigious universities such as Yale University and Duke University, specializing in emerging markets, corporate finance, and international finance.

During his tenure at Argentina’s Ministry of Economy between 1988 and 1993, he led sovereign debt negotiations, contributing to the normalization of Argentina’s public debt and the country’s renewed access to international credit markets.

From 1999 to 2001, he served as Secretary of Finance of Argentina, playing a central role in the country’s economic and financial policy during a critical period.
